Prefold Adult Cloth Diapers

There are a number of styles for adult cloth diapers. One of these is the prefold style. If you will look at it, it looks just like the basic rectangular cloth that mothers make into diapers and then lock with safety pins in the two sides. It also uses the same choices for fabrics: cotton flannel, terry cloth or birdseye. For sensitive skin, cotton flannel is the best choice for prefold because it is soft and it doesn’t give rashes. These are the similarities.

Upon closer look, you’ll notice that there are slight differences from the prefold baby diapers and prefold adult diapers. One obvious difference is the size. Adult diapers are much bigger and they can be custom-made for very large users. The largest size for commercially available prefold adult diapers is up to 60 inches.

prefold

Aside from the length and the size, a prefold adult cloth diaper has a thicker middle portion. It is made of up to 16 layers of cloth for absorbency and comfort especially during the night.

The layers of cloth to be used in the prefold style are actually dependent on the user. The user can choose to use a 2 x 4 x 2 layers which means that the middle part has 4 layers and the two sides have 2 layers. For most commercially manufactured prefold adult diapers, the thickest is 12 x 16 x 16. This is bulky but it gives maximum protection from leakage.

Prefold adult cloth diaper is almost always the first choice especially for those who are starting out with cloth diapers. It is the cheapest and it gives a lot of choices in terms of the kind of fabrics, sizes and number of layers.
